I had lunch with a well respected child specialist today and was reminded, again, that when there are children are involved in a separation, it is crucial to look to child and family specialists for guidance to help our children through the separation process. It’s not only the young children that need it, the teenagers need it too, and perhaps even more so. It’s never too late, and as my learned lunch companion said, its about giving them the tools so they can get ‘more’ out of their experience. It’s not about counselling them because something is ‘wrong’, what teenager would even get into the car if you told them that is where you were going, its about offering them the chance to talk to someone who can listen and provide tools so that our children can navigate their own way through the separation.

Food for thought.
