Karen received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario, a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia, and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 2004. Karen is an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia teaching Family Law. Karen is also one of co-writers of JP Boyd’s Blog on Family Law. here

As a family law litigator, Karen has appeared at all levels of Court in BC, including the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal. Karen has experience in all aspects of family law, understands divorce and separation from the client’s perspective and knows first-hand that every situation is unique and requires careful consideration concerning approach and resolution.

Karen’s proactive approach combines empathy and effectiveness to each unique and difficult situation. Karen is trained as a family law mediator and also participates with her clients in mediation and collaborative settlements.

Karen is also the mother of three amazing daughters who never let her forget that they are actually the center of her life.
